Making a Life-size IG-12 Droid from The Mandalorian, Part 1 - The Head with LED Lights | STAR WARS

Image
Hello friends! Several months ago. I went a little crazy and began to make a life-size IG-12 droid so my @Mattel Grogu figure would have a place to hang out. It took 4 weeks to build and another week to paint, so I decided to split the build into multiple videos to make it easier to watch:  1st - The Head  2nd - Chest & Shoulders  3rd - Pelvis & Hips  4th - Legs & Base  5th - Posable Arms  6th - Painting  Videos will be released as I finish assembling them and making templates.  Here is the link to the template for the head: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1538457064/life-size-ig-12-head-eva-foam-template?click_key=e3b2f416cd9f9baeb98e6ff279c5ef00208d2086%3A1538457064&click_sum=52a480d6&ref=shop_home_active_1 Check out IG-12's head build here: #starwars #ig12 #themandalorian #droid #evafoam #grogu

Star Wars Clone Trooper Helmet 3D Print Assemble | 501st Clone Trooper - How to Hide Seams

Image
Hello Everyone! Super thrilled to add another iconic helmet to the collection! This video will show you the process that I have found to be the fastest and efficient way to work with multiple 3D printed pieces. Seam cleanup is nothing to be afraid of, and it can be very satisfying when you see your finished piece!  Plus, I tried using some painting techniques I've never used before with liquid latex & rubbing alcohol! Plus, a huge shoutout to @tested for his amazing behind the scenes footage/interview with @AceCosplay at FBFX! FBFX were instrumental in creating the first live action suits for on screen performances of the clone troopers in series like Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Mandalorian, and Ahsoka. Adam's highly detailed footage came in super handy when sculpting and painting this helmet! If you would like to see the complete process, check out the entire build here: #starwars #clonetrooper #3dprinting #3dprintcleanup #trooperhelmet #501st

3D Printing The Black Arrow from The Lord of the Rings - The Hobbit Trilogy | LOTR Replica Prop

Image
Hi Everyone! This is another replica that has been on my to-do list for several years, and it felt like it was about time with the release of the season 2 of The Rings of Power. It took me a while to figure out the correct way to sculpt the arrowhead because it is a twist within a twist, but after several hours I finally managed to get there.  Also, after a ton of research and screenshot comparison, I ended up making the prop to the correct scale as what's seen in the films, which is about 7' in length. The replicas from manufactures list the length as 6' and say that it's a 1:1 scale, but by comparing the screen used prop with the height of Luke Evans (who is 6'), a 6' arrow was too small and needed to be taller than the actor. So, after a ton of measuring I landed on the 7' length. 3D Printing Saruman's Staff featuring Resin Swirl Orb | Using Resin to Make a Wizards Jewel | LOTR

Image
Hi Everyone! Since I made Gandalf the Whites Staff several weeks ago, I thought it would be appropriate to make Saruman's staff as well. The staff is 3d printed but for the support I used a piece of aluminum conduit. This way the staff has a strong solid support, and the conduit adds a little weight to it. I also deiced to make the orb by mixing 2 different resins together. I haven't worked a lot with resins, but I'm happy with the final results.  If you would like to make one here is a link to the files: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1775343931/saruman-staff-3d-print-files-lord-of-the?click_key=72eb56b87dcbfdf5fe2da952ee72035532b200cd%3A1775343931&click_sum=a9f05891&ref=shop_home_active_1 Also, if you'd like to see the entire process used to assemble the staff and make the 2-resin orb check it out here: #lotr #lordoftherings #3dprint #saruman #wizard #staff #diy

How to Make the Mouth of Sauron Helmet Only with Foam | LOTR Lord of the Rings Fully Wearable Helmet

Image
Hello Everyone! This is my interpretation of The Mouth's helmet we got to see in the extended edition DVDs. I remember going to see The Return of the King 5 times when it was in theatre's, I couldn't get enough of it! But when the extended edition came out about 1 year later, my friends and I spent an entire weekend watching the film and the featurettes 2 times. And ever since the Films (as well as the bonus material) have been on my yearly watch list, and now in my studio they are built into my rotating background video which plays while I work.  The character design of The Mouth is def one of my favorites and I felt it was time to actually take it on. So, I worked on it a little each weekend just to make sure I got each piece exactly right before continuing onto the next.  I was a little nervous about taking on this build because there are so many facets to the design, but as it turns out it was actually pretty easy to put together.  If you would like to make one here i...

3D Printing a Praetorian Guard Helmet | Star Wars The Mandalorian Helm | Multi Piece 3D Print

Image
Hello Everyone! Since seeing Moff Gideon's Praetorian guards in the season finale of the 3rd season of The Mandalorian I knew it was going to eventually make it into my collection. And since it's been a while since I've made any props from the series, I thought it was about time to add one. So, this made it onto the list.  When I was doing my research dive, I found this amazing file from Star Bug Props. So definitely a big "Thank You!" to them!  Here is a link in case you are interested: https://thangs.com/designer/Starbug%20Props/3d-model/Praetorian%20Guard-906393  I cut up the helmet so, I didn't have to worry about waste in case printing the whole helmet failed. Then the pieces were printed on my @ElegooOfficial Neptune 3 Pro, with a layer height of 0.12. Make a Boromir Shield with Plywood & EVA Foam | LOTR SHIELD for Larping or Cosplay Faux Leather

Image
Hi Everyone! A few of you have been asking me to make Boromir's shield, and I finally managed to do it!  I decided to make it as close to the screen used prop as possible, and after much research that meant making a shield with a convex front surface and a flat back surface. The shield is made with EVA foam and uses lauan to create a suitable support surface to adhere the foam to, and also incorporates metal into the grip and brackets in order to make it more durable for larping needs. Even with these added elements the shield is very light and weighs under 5 lbs. 3D Printing Daemon Targaryen's Dagger from House of the Dragon | How to Smooth 3D Printed Prop Blade

Image
Hello Everyone! This dagger stuck out to me during the 1st season of House of the Dragon, and since the newest season is underway (and I've been spotting it again) it was time to make it. The dagger hasn't gotten a lot of screen time itself, but the hilt is regularly seen since Daemon is very often seen with it sheathed strapped to his side. Let's hope they allow him to use it again at some point during the series! In this video I'll show you the process I use whenever working with 3d printed blades and highly detailed pieces (which are difficult to clean). I used my @ElegooOfficial Neptune 3 Pro. And when you are finished, you'll have a piece that look real, and all your friends won't believe it's a 3d print!
